Meet the Leaders

Jesus

Jesus is the reason we are here - he is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. He is why we do what we do and he is the one who has saved us. To find out more about Jesus click here. Under the Lordship of Jesus Christ is our minister and team of deacons .

Jonathan and Caroline - Jonathan has been the minister at the People's Church since September 2008. He originally comes from Watford but has lived around Manchester since he was 8 years old. He studied at the Nazarene Theological College in Manchester and served 2 years on a placement with Hope Church Manchester while studying. After completing his studies Jonathan joined the Hope staff for a year overseeing students and 20s work, before God called him and Caroline to Partington. Caroline was a teaching assistant in Little Hulton until recent times, but she now spends her days (and nights) as a full time mum to their first child. Caroline was part of Eden Swinton for 4 years, working with the young people of the Valley Estate there. Both Jonathan and Caroline are passionate about seeing a growing, thrving church that is relevant to the culture it finds itself in, sharing the timeless truth of Jesus' Gospel in accessible ways for the people of Partington. You can contact Jonathan by email at Jonathan@peopleschurch.co.uk

Jan and Paul - met whilst at University and have been married for nearly 35 years, for 19 of those years they have been working out ways to share what they have learned about the love of Jesus with the people that they meet. They have 2 daughters Anna and Ellie and grandaughter Evie. Together they have experienced the developing country of Uganda, having visited 10 times, when they have led teams from Altrincham, and personally kick-started various humanitarian projects.

Paul is passionate and very knowledgeable about 1970s rock music and "The Little (steam) Trains of Wales". He is currently very proud of his changing shape, due to his visits to the gym over the past 12 months. Jan loves finding new places for afternoon tea, and exciting places to buy "good food" and believes in the value of fairly traded products. She is an excellent cook and enjoys providing hospitality. She is training for the Manchester 10k run, ( and enjoying it!).
They both love going to "live events" be it music, theatre or dance, and in recent years have "braved" outdoor music festivals, including Greenbelt and Acoustic Festival of Great Britain.

Paul is a director for a large international Computer Software company, Oracle, and Jan is a volunteer Debt Consellor for the new Christians Against Poverty Debt Advice Centre recently opened in Partington.

Josie - has served as a deacon with the People's Church for 5 years now. She has been part of the church community since 1968, when she started attending with her husband and three children, who've all grown up. Over the years, Josie has seen Partington change in many ways, and she has seen people move out of the area and new people come into the area and church. What has remained constant is the friendly welcome of the church to all who come. In her spare time, Josie loves walking, hiking and cycling, as well as spending time with her friends and family.

Trevor and Diane - After both being married before Trevor and Diane Were married at Bolton Pentecostal Church in 1995. After this they have been involved across a range of denominations and ministries. Trevor was involved for many years with the Christian charities “Siloam Christian Ministries” & “Lighthouse International Ministries” taking humanitarian aid to Churches within the former communist block countries of Romania, Croatia, Hungary, and Ukraine and also into Portugal. He still maintains links with local churches in several of those countries. Diane has worked abroad with Trevor and is experienced working with elderly people. She has a strong desire to work for the elderly people in our area. They joined The Peoples Church several years ago and, now retired, have more time to spare and a heart to reach the people of Partington, Carrington and surrounding areas to make Jesus known to folk in a practical and relevant way. They have three grown up children and three grandchildren.

Andy and Ruth - Andy and Ruth have been with us for a couple of years now, both settling at the People's Church as their new church together to coincide with getting married. Following a year of travelling and seeing the world, they both felt God call them to Partington to get involved with the church, and have become committed and active members. Andy is Director of travel company Great British Trips, supports Portsmouth FC and the Pittsburgh Penguins Ice Hockey team (any team that begins with P, really). Ruth is a teaching assistant in a local school working alongside young people with challenging behaviour and learning difficulties, and she supports Sheffield Wednesday.
Andy serves as one of our deacons, as well as co-ordinating our Men's Breakfasts. He and Ruth are heavily involved in the worship life of the church, leading regularly and running our monthly 'Worship Night' events. Ruth also runs our Glee club, is involved as a member of the Youthy team and enjoys graphic design and going to the cinema in her spare time.
